Durango is a home to a WIDE variety of individuals: camper nerds, wooks, stoners, religious EDM'ers, geologists, musicians, lots or bartenders, waitresses, and cooks and so on. But oddly enough there are not that many professional dedicated glassblowers in Durango, luckily I found one.

His name is Jim Righter and he blows some of the most heady and unique glass that I have ever seen before. Jim is a dope individual that I hope everyone gets the chance to meet, for instance the first day I came to his studio, just to get some papers signed, I ended up learning how to mold glass and make a carb. cap for my rig. I was there for maybe an hour. The guy is very open to anyone coming to his shop and just learning how to blow glass, and not thankfully I have the opportunity to interview him on film and hopefully get a spot on the Rocky Mountain PBS show, Arts District [http://www.rmpbs.org/artsdistrict/home/], so I can get him some free publicity which is good for everyone.

To anyone out there in the Durango area who's like me and is obsessed with extra heady pieces, walk into any smoke shop and ask to see a Jim Righter piece, then get your wallet out and hand him all of your money. Trust me. Jim uses magnets on the joints of rigs and bongs (right where you would put your bowl or bucket or nail ((I hope you don't have a titanium nail at this point in time))) so that if you tip over you piece the joint will just pop off and you can put it back on. Also the magnets let you change your piece from a 10mm to a 14mm and etc. So that you can really use any size bucket one of Jim's rigs if you wanted to. AND! His final innovation was to make it to where you can break off that ground joint, break off your mouth piece, stick them together and boom! You have a dab straw, pretty cool right?

Anyway that's enough of me talking, I'm sorry my posts are not that often, it gets dark at like fucking 5:00pm so I'm adjusting. Stay tuned for more posts and a full length interview with young Jim that will be posted right here. HAPPY THURSDAY.
